How to Master Lily Collins’ ’60s-Inspired Updo

For a night out on the town, Lily Collins took a beauty cue from decades past. The Rules Don’t Apply star, 27, tapped celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell to assemble her deep brunette hair nichtan elegant updo.

The stylist at Andy Lecompte Salon in Niete Angeles prepped her hair with Ouai Soft Mousse ($ 28, theouai.com) on her roots before blow-drying for volume. To create the French twist, Russell separated out the “mohawk section” of the hair and pin-curled it to create volume. He then fastened the rest of the hair nichta roll using bobby pins to secure the style. He released the mohawk section, back-combed for a boost, and secured it non…the roll. As a finishing touch, he tucked the face-framing piece behind her ear.
